Overview

Rep. Michael Baumgartner is a corrupt politician who puts loyalty to Trump first, not the eastern Washington voters he represents. He has spent his time in Washington slashing healthcare and raising costs by voting for Trump’s tariffs, Iran war and tax breaks to billionaires, AI companies and data centers.

Summary

Broadcast & Cable TV

Starting immediately, voters need to see broadcast and cable TV ads, including on primetime and live sports, about how:
  • Michael Baumgartner received $50,000 from PACs that represent the artificial intelligence industry and corporations that build data centers. He rewarded them by voting to give the data center industry $70 billion in tax breaks. Now Eastern Washington families are paying twice for the enormous amounts of electricity and water data centers use: once for the tax giveaway and again through higher utility bills.
  • In Olympia and Congress, Michael Baumgartner has sought to make deep cuts to programs that ensure seniors can live with dignity. He has spent more than a decade pushing an extreme plan that the AARP and other groups that advocate for seniors oppose because it would result in huge cuts to Medicare and reduce Social Security benefits that seniors have paid into and have earned.

Digital: OTT / CTV

Starting immediately, Independent voters, especially Independent voters between the ages of 18-49, need to see digital ads on OTT/CTV, about how:
  • Michael Baumgartner supports Trump’s failed economic policies driving up costs. Baumgartner voted for tariffs that have added thousands of dollars in higher prices on everything from groceries to clothing and cars. He also voted five times to continue the war in Iran even though it cost taxpayers at least $150 billion, sent gas prices skyrocketing and led to higher inflation.
  • Michael Baumgartner voted for Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” that gives tax breaks to wealthy individuals and corporations by cutting healthcare. Baumgartner put healthcare at risk for more than 390,000 Washington residents, causing unprecedented premium increases for families across Washington, including people who get their health insurance through work. His vote also gutted Medicaid, eliminating coverage for tens of thousands of eastern Washington families and threatening to close nearly half of Washington’s rural hospitals.

Additional Resources

  • In Washington State, everyone votes by mail. General election ballots are mailed to voters by Friday, October 16, 2026, and the deadline to return them is 8 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Based on 2024 and 2022 results, nearly two-thirds of voters are expected to return their ballots by the final week of the election cycle.
  • Historically, older higher propensity partisan voters vote in the first week, whereas Independent and swing voters often wait until the last week.
  • This district has a distinctive look, as do the area’s residents who work in industries such as health care, agriculture and education. Voters should see visuals that reflect the community’s unique look and feel.
