Eastern Washington values.

World-class experience

April 30 marked 100 days since Donald Trump returned to the White House – and a bit more than 100 days since Michael Baumgartner was sworn in. And for Eastern Washington, it’s been a 100 days of avoidable chaos imposed by the Republican National Party.

I’m outraged. I’m fed up. And I refuse to stand by while working families, retirees, veterans, and military households struggle. If you feel the same – if you’re ready to stand up for the rule of law and against the chaos MAGA has caused  – I hope you’ll choose to support our grassroots campaign for WA-05.

Unelected billionaire crony Elon Musk has been wielding DOGE like a chain saw, gutting the programs and systems that we rely on. Ending food support for low-income families to buy from local grocers and farmers’ markets; dissolving public sector unions; slowing Social Security; ending heating fuel support for low-income households; slashing Veterans Affairs; stopping agricultural research; strangling infrastructure investment to connect rural folks to the broader economy – you name it, they’ve cut it.

But wait, one thing they haven’t cut?  Prices. The utterly irrational tariffs, taxes on people who buy things like fertilizer and lumber from Canada, car parts from Mexico, and aluminum, steel, and coffee from practically anywhere. Our trading partners are pushing back, and that hurts our businesses: home builders, retailers, farmers, wine makers, breweries and other small business owners who’d FINALLY recovered from the pandemic.

And Michael Baumgartner? He is actively conspiring with national MAGA leadership against the interests of small businesses and working folks in Eastern Washington, especially in rural communities. He voted to surrender Congressional power to an out-of-control executive, and is using his seat on the Judiciary Committee to try to prevent judges from exercising THEIR responsibilities under the Constitution. He says in his newsletters that we’re his “bosses” – but his votes tell us otherwise.

We deserve a representative who listens, fights for working families, seniors, and veterans, and upholds the values that make Eastern Washington strong.

That’s exactly why I’m running. This is a grassroots campaign, I’m counting on your support – If you believe Eastern Washington deserves better, please sign up to volunteer and, if you can, chip in whatever you can.

“In our community, we see, firsthand, the value of hard work and the importance of neighbors supporting one another. The divisive politics of the other Washington doesn’t reflect our values, yet they affect us deeply. Far-right extremists in Congress are upending international order, failing families and farmers, and threatening our freedoms. I’ll prioritize everyday Washingtonians.”

– Carmela

As a third generation eastern Washingtonian, Carmela Conroy has a sense of duty and determination to serve her community.

Carmela’s grandfather was a union mason on the Grand Coulee Dam and her father was a union railroad worker with the Great Northern Railroad, later part of the BNSF. Carmela is a dues-paying member of the union representing U.S. Foreign Service personnel. Rooted in the hard work and resilience of her family, Carmela paid her way through college and law school, returning home to serve as a deputy prosecutor for Spokane County.

From her work in criminal justice to her service abroad, Carmela has built connections with veterans, active-duty military personnel, and professionals in national security. Our nation faces complex challenges both at home and abroad.

The dysfunction and partisan extremism in Congress have left critical issues unaddressed, from agricultural policy to national security to the well-being of our communities. As a representative, Carmela will prioritize the needs of Eastern Washington, advocating for agricultural support, affordable healthcare, and economic opportunities for working families. By investing in rural infrastructure, clean energy, and economic diversification, Carmela will work to strengthen our local economy.

The upcoming election carries profound significance for our fundamental freedoms, including the right to reproductive healthcare. Carmela will defend our rights and uphold our individual freedoms. She has the experience and the deep roots in our community to represent the values and concerns of hardworking families and farmers in Washington’s 5th Congressional District. With your support we can build a brighter future for Eastern Washington.
